Two 50 ton, 50 ˝ foot steel miter gates will be transported from STS Steel, Inc. in Schenectady, NY, to Lock E-4 on the New York State Canal System in Waterford on Tuesday, March 6, between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. The gates are scheduled to be lifted into place and attached to the walls of Lock E-4 using a crane on Wednesday, March 7, between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
The gate replacement is part of the Canal Corporation’s regularly scheduled winter maintenance program in preparation for the upcoming 182nd navigation season. Canal Corporation Director, Carmella R. Mantello, will be on-site Wednesday morning to answer questions about the project.

DIRECTIONS:
Thruway Interchange 23 (Albany) to I-787 Northbound to end. Take Route 32 North.
Go over second bridge- take a left on 8th Street. Go to end – take a left on
Washington Street, proceed over railroad tracks. Continue ˝ mile to left on
Flight Lock Road. Lock E-4 is on the left.
