CANAL CORPORATION ANNOUNCES NEW WEB ADDRESS
Simplified Address Designed to Encourage More Visitors to Website and Canal
System
The New York State Canal Corporation today announced another step toward enhancing its web-based marketing and improving customer service by simplifying its website address to www.nyscanals.gov.
The former web address (www.canals.state.ny.us) will redirect visitors to the Canal Corporation website at the new address.
“The new website address is part of a comprehensive effort to enhance our marketing and promotional efforts to attract more visitors to the Canal System,” said Carmella R. Mantello, Director. “The new, simplified web address will help strengthen the NYS Canals brand and make it easier for the public to find and access valuable information when planning a fun and exciting vacation along New York’s historic Canal System.”
In 2006, the Canal Corporation website averaged more than 135,000 hits per
month.
The Canal Corporation also announced it has a new, redesigned marketing logo
for the NYS Canals brand. The new, more vibrant logo is already in use on the
Corporation’s website, a new trade show display and in various marketing
materials.
The New York State Canal System is comprised of four historic waterways, the Erie, the Champlain, the Oswego and the Cayuga-Seneca Canals. Spanning 524 miles across New York State, the waterway links the Hudson River, Lake Champlain, Lake Ontario, the Finger Lakes and the Niagara River with communities rich in history and culture.
