NYS CANAL CORPORATION ANNOUNCES CANAL CUSTOMER SATISFACTION SURVEYS AVAILABLE ONLINE
Boater and Trail Surveys Provide Insight from Canal System Customers
The New York State Canal Corporation today announced the availability of two Canal Customer Satisfaction Surveys on its website at: www.canals.state.ny.us. Upon visiting the website, visitors can link to both the Canal System Customer Satisfaction Survey and the Canalway Trail Customer Satisfaction Survey directly from the homepage.
“The Canal Customer Satisfaction Surveys are critical tools in helping the Canal Corporation better understand the experiences of our visitors and what we as an organization can do to ensure those experiences are positive,” Carmella R. Mantello, Director of the New York State Canal Corporation said. “We will consider the feedback gained from customers to improve our operations and develop future projects and initiatives along the Canal System to make sure the canal remains a world class recreational and tourist destination.”
The Canal System Customer Satisfaction Survey is geared toward boaters, both recreational and commercial, and landside users of the NYS Canal System. Respondents are asked to rate Canal System services and facilities including safety, signage, waterway conditions and experience with lock personnel, among others.
The Canalway Trail Customer Satisfaction Survey is geared toward trail users along the NYS Canal System. Respondents to this survey are asked to rate items such as landscaping and cleanliness, trail surface conditions, and overall safety.
Customers responding to both the Canal System Survey and Canalway Trail
Survey are asked to provide basic demographic information as well as information
about their usage of the Canal System.
In order to continue our commitment to customer service, these surveys have been routinely administered every two years since 1998.
The New York State Canalway Trail System is comprised of a network of more than 245 miles of existing multi-use, recreational trails across upstate New York. The 348-mile Erie Canalway Trail between the Hudson River and Lake Erie is now more than two-thirds complete thanks to a $35 million program announced by Governor George E. Pataki in 2002. Significant progress has been made toward completing the Canalway Trail, with completion expected in 2009. When completed, the canalway Trail will be the longest multi-use recreational trail in the United States.
The New York State Canal System is comprised of four historic waterways, the Erie, the Champlain, the Oswego, and the Cayuga-Seneca Canals. Spanning 524 miles across New York State, the waterway links the Hudson River, Lake Champlain, Lake Ontario, the Finger Lakes and the Niagara River with communities rich in history and culture.
