Official Closing of the 2005 Navigational Season on the New York State Canal System
New York State Canal Corporation Director Carmella R. Mantello will hold a press conference and photo opportunity to commemorate the official closing of the 2005 Navigational Season on the New York State Canal System. The press conference will take place at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at Lock C-1 on the Champlain Canal, located off of Route 32 in the Town of Halfmoon, Saratoga County (directions included below).
Director Mantello will join Canal Corporation employees and invited guests in operating the lock gates as the final vessels of the season lock through the Champlain Canal. Media, including photographers, are invited to attend.

Directions to Lock C-1: From 787-North: Proceed to end of I-787 and turn right onto Saratoga Avenue. Proceed over Union Bridge crossing Mohawk River into Waterford. Proceed north along Saratoga Avenue for approximately two miles. Just after the historic Waterford Rural Cemetery on the left, bear right onto Broad Street. Take left at 2nd traffic light onto Third Street/ Route 4/ Route 32 north. Proceed approximately 3 miles and take a right just after G.E. Silicones plant at sign for Lock 1 Champlain Canal.
