NEW YORK STATE CANAL CORPORATION ANNOUNCES WATER
LEVELS AT LELAND POND TO BE LOWERED
Necessary Valve Repairs Requires Pool Levels Lowered in September
The New York State Canal Corporation today announced that a valve repair project will necessitate lowering the pool level of Leland Pond at the end of September.
To facilitate the repairs to the valves within the gate house at the southern end of the pond, water levels will be lowered as much as six to eight feet below normal summer level. Depending on weather conditions, the Canal Corporation anticipates the repairs will be completed within two to three weeks. Upon completion, water levels will be restored as soon as possible.
This reservoir plays an important role in canal operations by supplying critical water to the Canal System, as well as supporting recreational opportunities for the public. The Canal Corporation appreciates the public's patience during this important improvement project.
