CANAL CONNECTIONS TOUR STOPPING IN ALBANY

New York State Canal Corporation seeking community input
in shaping the Erie Canal Greenway

Erie Canalway Trail link to Albany to be announced

What:
The Canal Connections Tour will be arriving in Albany. New York State Canal Corporation Director Carmella R. Mantello will gather input and ideas from Federal, State and local officials, community and business leaders, as well as other groups interested in the Canal's future and Governor Pataki's proposal for an Erie Canal Greenway and Empire State Greenway.

When:
Tuesday, August 23, 2005 (Media is invited to attend all events.)
10:00 a.m. Canal Connections Tour meeting
11:45 a.m. NEWS CONFERENCE at foot of Hudson River Walkway Bridge in Corning Preserve
12:15 p.m. Albany Aqua Ducks boat tour of Erie Canal historic sites

Directions & Parking:

From the South & West:
NYS Thruway to Exit 23 (Albany Downtown).
Straight through the toll booths to I-787.
Take Exit US9 North, US 20 West (Albany Downtown)
(When on the Exit, sign will then say Broadway, Clinton Avenue).
At the light on the exit, take a left onto Broadway, (you’re looking straight ahead at Key Bank), Broadway bears right. Staying on Broadway, drive past the Post Office (large gray granite building on your right.)
Still on Broadway, drive past the Dormitory Authority and then Peter D. Kiernan Plaza on your right hand side.
Take a right on Columbia Street, which is the street just north of Peter D. Kiernan Plaza.
Take a right into the parking garage. Take a ticket at the entrance and park in visitor parking.

From the North:
Northway (I-87) to I-90 East.
Take Exit for 787 South.
Take first exit which will be for “Columbia Street.”
Proceed straight on exit through the traffic light to corner of Waters & Columbia Streets
Take a right onto Columbia Street and left into parking garage. Take a ticket at the entrance and park in visitor parking.

From the East:
Take I-90 West.
Take Exit for 787 South.
Take first exit which will be for “Columbia Street.”
Proceed straight on exit through the traffic light to corner of Waters & Columbia Streets
Take a right onto Columbia Street and left into parking garage. Take a ticket at the entrance and park in visitor parking.
