CANAL CORPORATION ANNOUNCES SECTION OF PORT GIBSON ROAD, TOWN OF PALMYRA, TO CLOSE
The New York State Canal Corporation today announced that a box culvert installation project on a portion of Port Gibson Road, Town of Palmyra, will close the road for two weeks beginning Wednesday, July 27.
The box culvert project is part of an ongoing Canalway Trail project taking place in the same area. This section of road, where Port Gibson Road crosses the Canal, is expected to reopen Wednesday, August 10.
Detour signs have been set in place to inform motorists of the detour route.
During the closure, motorists using the detour route are encouraged to plan their trips accordingly and leave extra time for travel. In addition, travelers should always remain alert and aware of their surroundings.
The Canal Corporation appreciates residents' patience and understanding as this essential Canal improvement project takes place.
