NYS CANAL CORPORATION ANNOUNCES IMMEDIATE CLOSURE OF
WATERFORD FLIGHT,
ERIE CANAL LOCKS 2-6
The New York State Canal Corporation has announced that the Waterford Flight (Erie Canal Locks 2 through 6) has been closed to all navigation due to equipment malfunction.
At this time, the Corporation is draining the water from the Flight so that an initial full-depth inspection can take place. This section of the Canal System will remain closed until damages are assessed, repairs can be made and the Waterford Flight safely reopened.
The Canal Corporation will provide additional details once they are available. The New York State Canal Corporation apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause; however, the safety of boaters and Canal Corporation employees is of the utmost importance.
