To avoid any unnecessary inconvenience or delays, mariners seeking passage through a Canal Corporation lock are advised to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the scheduled closing time.

hours of operation for the 2008 Navigation Season
are as
follows: |

7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. |
| May 23 to September 3 |
7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. |
| September 4 to November 15 |
7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. |

incidents and emergencies that may affect navigation on the
New York State Canal System sign up for Canal TRANSalert.
Notices to Mariners provide the latest information about Canal openings/closures, water levels, construction and other elements affecting navigation on the Erie, Champlain, Oswego and Cayuga-Seneca Canals. When necessary, the Canal Corporation issues several Notices to Mariners daily. Notices to Mariners are only posted on the website Monday through Friday during regular business hours. For the most up-to-date information on the Canal water conditions, please call 1-800-4CANAL4 and press option 3.

Mariners are advised that the Holley Guard Gate and the Brockport Guard Gate have resumed normal operations

Mariners are advised that drilling and sampling activities will commence on Tuesday, May 13th on the Erie Canal in the vicinity of Bridge E-19A and Riverlink Park in Amsterdam

Mariners are advised that vessel traffic is restricted to the north span of the Holley Guard Gate and Brockport Guard Gate until further notice

Mariners are advised that, due to ongoing construction activities, the published normal-pool clearance of Bridge C-4A in Mechanicville of 24.39 feet will be reduced by 2 feet to 22.39 feet for the duration of the 2008 navigation season

Mariners are advised that the Champlain Canal will open for navigation on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at 12:00 PM

Mariners are advised that starting on April 1, 2008 and ending on December 31, 2008 bridge rehabilitation work will take place on the Route 104 Bridge (Bridge O-14), over the Oswego Canal
- March 31, 2008 --
Mariners are advised that starting on April 1, 2008 until July 1, 2008 bridge repair work will take place on the Routes 5 and 20 Bridge, over the Cayuga Lake Outlet, in the Town of Tyre, Seneca County
- March 31, 2008 --
Mariners are advised that starting on April 1, 2008 and ending on December 31, 2008 bridge rehabilitation work will take place on the Route 291 Bridge, over the Erie Canal
