To avoid any unnecessary inconvenience or delays, mariners seeking passage through a Canal Corporation lock are advised to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the scheduled closing time.  More information....

Notices to Mariners provide the latest information about Canal openings/closures, water levels, construction and other elements affecting navigation on the Erie, Champlain, Oswego and Cayuga-Seneca Canals. When necessary, the Canal Corporation issues several Notices to Mariners daily. Notices to Mariners are only posted on the website Monday through Friday during regular business hours. • July 2, 2009 -- Mariners are advised that the Erie Canal between Lock E-29 in Palmyra and Lock E-28B in Newark will close at 7:00 AM on Monday, July 6, 2009
• July 2, 2009 -- Upper Hudson River Dredging Project
• July 2, 2009 -- Mariners are advised that Lock C/S-4 in Waterloo has re-opened for navigation
• July 1, 2009 -- Mariners are advised that Lock C/S-4, in Waterloo, will be closed for maintenance at 7:00 AM on Thursday, July 2, 2009
• June 30, 2009 -- Mariners are reminded that use of the Waterford Canal Harbor will be restricted to vessels participating in the Waterford Steamboat Meet
• June 29, 2009 -- Mariners are advised that Wednesday, July 1, 2009 they may experience periodic delays due to a large commercial shipment being offloaded between Lock C-7 and C-8 in Fort Edward
• June 26, 2009 -- Mariners are advised that Lock C-12 in Whitehall has re-opened for navigation
• June 26, 2009 -- Mariners are advised that divers will be performing underwater repair of the upper approach wall at Lock E-12 in Tribes Hill

• June 25, 2009 -- Mariners are advised that the Waterford Canal Harbor will be restricted to vessel traffic from 12 Noon Wednesday, July 1st to 12 Noon Sunday, July 5th for the Waterford Steamboat Meet
• June 25, 2009 -- Mariners are advised that Lock C-12 in Whitehall will close for necessary repairs at 9:00 AM, Friday June 26, 2009
• June 23, 2009 -- Mariners are advised that Erie Canal from Lock E-32 in Pittsford to the Parker Street Bridge in Fairport has re-opened for navigation
• June 23, 2009 -- Mariners are advised that the Erie Canal, from Lock E-32 in Pittsford to the Parker Street Bridge in Fairport, is closed until further notice due to police activity
• June 22, 2009 -- Mariners are advised that a large commercial vessel will be transiting from Lock C-1 in Waterford to Lock C-7 in Fort Edward
• June 22, 2009 -- Mariners are advised that the water level between Locks C-7 and C-8 in Fort Edward will be lowered two feet below the normal navigation level on Tuesday, June 23, 200 9, starting at 10:00 PM
• June 20, 2009 -- Mariners are advised that the Canal Corporation received a report of a large floating dead animal in the Erie Canal just east of Railroad Avenue Bridge (E-38) in Frankfort

• June 15, 2009 -- Mariners are advised that the Erie Canal between Lock E-8 in Scotia and Lock E-9 in Rotterdam Junction is open for navigation
• June 14, 2009 -- Mariners are advised that the Erie Canal between Lock E-8 in Scotia and Lock E-9 in Rotterdam Junction is closed due to a downed aircraft, until further notice

• June 5, 2009 -- Mariners are advised that the canal will be closed in the area between Lock E-19 in Frankfort and E-20 in Whitesboro on Monday, June 8, beginning at 9:00 AM, due to police activity
