Mariners are advised that the Erie Canal between Lock
E-29 in Palmyra and Lock E-28B in Newark will close at
7:00 AM on Monday, July 6, 2009.
The water level in this area will be lowered gradually
by approximately five feet, beginning at 10:00 PM
Sunday, July 5, 2009.
Anyone concerned with the reduced depth should move
their vessels to the east past Lock E-28B by 10:00 PM
Sunday. Contact 585-233-1217, for assistance with
mooring locations.
It is anticipated that this level will be lowered and
closed to navigation for several days.
