Mariners are advised that the Erie Canal between Lock
E-29 in Palmyra and Lock E-28B in Newark will close at
7:00 AM on Tuesday, June 16, 2009.
The water level in this area will be lowered
gradually by approximately five feet, between 10:00 PM
tonight, June 15, 2009 and 6:00 AM Wednesday, June 17,
2009.
Anyone concerned with the reduced depth should move
their vessels to the east past Lock E-28B by 10:00 PM
tonight. Contact the Lyons Section Canal Headquarters at
315-946-6192, for assistance with mooring locations.
It is anticipated that this level will be lowered and
closed to navigation for at least two days.
