NOTICE TO
MARINERS

Erie Canal

Mariners are advised that drilling and sampling activities will
commence on Tuesday, May 13th on the Erie Canal in the vicinity of
Bridge E-19A and Riverlink Park in Amsterdam.
Obstruction buoys will mark the location of the drill sites
located on the northern-most section of the navigation channel. A
small spud barge will also be located on the north side of the
navigation channel. Available navigable channel width through this
area will be restricted to approximately 125 feet on the south side
of the navigation channel.
Mariners should proceed with caution and at a "No Wake" speed
through this area until further notice.
For updates and information, mariners are advised to monitor
1-800-4CANAL4 and www.nyscanals.gov. Additionally, mariners may sign
up for automatic e-mail and text message alerts through the new
Canal TRANSalert service. This service is offered to notify mariners
of major incidents and emergencies that may affect navigation on the
