NOTICE TO MARINERS

Cayuga/Seneca Canal

Bridge Rehabilitation

March 31, 2008

Mariners are advised that starting on April 1, 2008 until July 1, 2008 bridge repair work will take place on the Routes 5 and 20 Bridge, over the Cayuga Lake Outlet, in the Town of Tyre, Seneca County. This bridge is located north of Lock C/S-1 and is identified as Fixed Bridge S-1 in NOAA Chart 14786.

All work will take place between the hours of 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM. Boaters are reminded to use caution when approaching this area. Spotter boats on each side of the bridge will be in place to direct boaters around any obstructions.

For updates and information, mariners are advised to monitor 1-800-4CANAL4 and www.nyscanals.gov. Additionally, mariners may sign up for automatic e-mail and text message alerts through the new Canal TRANSalert service. This service is offered to notify mariners of major incidents and emergencies that may affect navigation on the New York State Canal System.
