NOTICE TO MARINERS 

Cayuga-Seneca Canal

Mariners are advised that the Canal Corporation has received a report of a normally submerged cable floating at the water’s surface in the vicinity of Bridge S-3 (Route 89) between Locks CS-1 and CS-2/3 on the Cayuga-Seneca Canal. This cable is reported to be floating on the south side of the channel immediately to the west of Bridge S-3, between markers G59 and R62.

This cable is reported to connect to a water level gauge maintained by the United States Geological Survey and carries only minimal electrical current. Mariners are advised to proceed with extreme caution in this area, favor the north side of the channel, and report any obstructions to the New York State Canal Corporation.
