Mariners are advised that embankment repairs have proceeded to a point where the Erie Canal between Guard Gate # 5 in Herkimer and Lock E-18 in German Flatts will reopen at 12 PM (noon) on Thursday, May 24, 2007.

Mariners are also advised that Canal Corporation equipment and vessels are working in the channel and mariners should proceed with caution. The speed limits through the above described reach will be reduced to a no wake level until further notice. This reduced speed limit will be strictly enforced by NYS Troop T Marine Patrol and NYS Canal Corporation.
