NEW YORK STATE CANAL SYSTEM

Mariners are advised that the Oswego Canal, the Erie Canal between E-23 in Brewerton and E-27 in Lyons, and Lock CS-1 on the Cayuga-Seneca Canal will open for navigation at 7 AM on Friday, May 11, 2007. At that time, all 524 miles of the New York State Canal System will be open for navigation.

Mariners should exercise caution in the vicinity of dams and be on the lookout for debris.

For updates and information, mariners are advised to monitor 1-800-4CANAL4 and www.nyscanals.gov. Additionally, mariners may sign up for automatic email and text message alerts through the new Canal TRANSalert service. This service is offered to notify mariners of major incidents and emergencies that may affect navigation on the New York State Canal System.
