MARINERS
Erie and Champlain Canals
Update
October 31, 2006
Mariners are advised that the entire length of the Champlain
Canal has reopened to traffic.
The Erie Canal from Lock E-2 in Waterford to Lock E-21 in New
London will open at 12:00 noon today.
The Erie Canal from Lock E-22 in New London to Lock E-27 in
Lyons, along with the entire Oswego Canal and Lock C/S-1 on the
Cayuga-Seneca Canal remain closed at this time due to high water and
heavy current.
Mariners should be aware of high water and debris in Canal
sections that are open. Some buoys may be off station. Please check
with local lock locations to verify bridge clearances before
proceeding.

www.canals.state.ny.us.
