NOTICE TO
MARINERS
Erie and Cayuga-Seneca Canals
Update and Extended Hours
October 25, 2006
1:15 p.m.
Mariners are advised that the Erie Canal from Lock E-17 in Little
Falls to Lock E-22 in New London has reopened. Please be aware that
some buoys may be off station.
The Erie Canal from Lock E-24 in Baldwinsville to Lock E-27 in
Lyons remains closed, as does Lock C/S-1 on the Cayuga-Seneca Canal.
Mariners are also advised that the hours of operation of the
Canal System will be extended by two hours to facilitate mariners
who have been delayed. Effective today, the operating hours will be
7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. until further notice. Mariners should inform
lock operators of their intended itinerary with respect to time and
destination.
Mariners are advised that in the areas of the New York State
Canal System that are open for navigation, high water levels
persist. Mariners should verify bridge clearances prior to
transiting these areas and pay close attention to their wakes.
