NOTICE TO MARINERS

Erie Canal
Lowered Water Levels Lock E-9 to Lock E-11

July 7, 2006

The New York State Canal Corporation will be conducting repair work on structures in the vicinity of Lock 10 in Cranesville. In order to perform this work, water levels will be lowered between Lock 9 in Rotterdam Junction and Lock 11 in the City of Amsterdam. Levels are projected to fall to non-navigation season (winter) levels beginning on Tuesday, July 11, 2006 and remain at these levels for approximately six weeks. This repair work is necessary as a result of damage sustained from the recent flooding.

Boat owners who dock their boats in this section of the canal are strongly urged to remove their boats by Tuesday or risk grounding of vessels for the duration of repair work.

The Canal Corporation appreciates your patience and cooperation during this important repair project.
