NOTICE TO
MARINERS
Canal Advisory
4:30 p.m.
June 27, 2006
More heavy rain is predicted for New York over the
next 24 hours. Consequently, Canal closures currently in effect will
continue and are likely to be expanded.
Mariners are advised that Canal closures are likely
along the entire Mohawk River section of the Erie Canal beginning
tomorrow, Wednesday, July 28th, from Lock E-19 in Frankfort to Lock
E-2 in Waterford.
Mariners are further advised that closures are
likely along the entire Hudson River section of the Champlain Canal
from Lock C-7 in Fort Edward to Lock C-1 in Halfmoon.
Mariners are further advised that heavy rain is
predicted for the Finger Lakes region and throughout the Oswego
River Basin. Canal closures in central New York are possible.
Additionally, mariners should expect debris and
reduced bridge clearances on many sections of the Canal System which
remain open, and should be aware of vessel wake effect on low-lying
property.
