NEW YORK STATE CANAL SYSTEM
NOTICE TO
MARINERS
October 29, 2005
The Erie Canal from Lock E-2 to Lock E-17 has reopened. In addition,
the Champlain Canal from Lock C-1 to Lock C-4 has reopened. All
sections of the Canal System are now open to commercial and
recreational vessel traffic, though mariners can expect increased
current and debris in sections of the Canal which had been closed.
In addition, levels along the Seneca and Oswego
River sections of the Canal System remain above normal. Mariners
should verify bridge clearances prior to transiting these areas and
take prudent measures to minimize wake damage.
For updates and information, mariners are advised
to monitor 1-800-4CANAL4 and
