Canal Clean Sweep
The 4th Annual Canal Clean Sweep, which took place during the weekend of April 17-19, 2009, was a huge success with more than 85 clean up events taking place across the Canal System. To see photos from this year's event, please visit

Canalway Trail Celebration
6th Annual Canalway Trail Celebration date is set for 6-6-09 to coincide with National Trails Day. Start planning for events in your community now! Cycling the Erie Canal Bike Tour
The 11th Annual Cycling the Erie Canal is scheduled to take place 7-12-09 through 7-19-09. This 400-mile bike ride from Buffalo to Albany follows the Erie Canalway Trail and draws hundreds of cyclists from all over the country. Canal Splash!
4th Annual Canal Splash! dates are set for 8-7-09 through 8-9-09! The Canal Splash! highlights the history, beauty, culture, recreational appeal and national significance of the New York State Canal System and Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor. Working on Water
As part of New York’s Quadricentennial celebration and in tribute to the exploring spirit of Robert Fulton, Samuel de Champlain and Henry Hudson, the “Working on Water” floating exhibition will feature more than two dozen historic vessels traveling the waters of Lake Champlain, Champlain Canal, and the Hudson River. During the months of August and September 2009, heritage vessels will dock at various waterfront communities where the public will be invited to tour and ride aboard many of these historic boats. The Canal Corporation's own Tug Urger and Tug Governor Cleveland will be participating in the WOW tour. 2010 World Canals Conference
During the week of September 19-24, 2010, the World Canals Conference will take place in Rochester! The conference theme is "Canals in the Community Setting, New York State, and Worldwide: Challenges and Opportunites". The conference will highlight the New York State Canal System and will also have a strong national and international focus.
